Day 20, Dec 27th.
Stretch: the road from San Martin to Villa Angostura, 120 km of brutality
Road conditions: fuck you!!! (ok…that isn´t really very helpful. Right out of the city you have a 700 meter climb up to this beautiful plateau. Do it in the morning…with wind and sun it would not be kosher at all. The next 30 [...]

Day 17, 18 & 19: Dec 24th-26th.
Distance traveled: 49 km from Junin to San Martin all on the 24th.
Road conditions: Ideal. A gentle uphill with minimal wind made for a simple two hour and change ride. The road was well maintained, provisions were numerous and the hardly challenging.
Riding a bike somewhere can have a much more subtle impact on [...]

Bike Ride Day 2 & 3: Dec 9th and 10th.
This really was only one day of riding and one day of resting. The second day of the ride was roughly 50 km slightly uphill into the wind from Tunuyan to Perenditas.
Road conditions: fabulous….the road is a bit uphill and there was a slight headwind but there was minimal traffic and the road condition was [...]

Day 15/16: Dec 22nd/23rd Travel Addendum
There is such a thing as most definitely learning too much, having too much information, and generally wishing you could go back to a state of ignorance. Case in point, the addendum to the blog entry I just posted at my site. I really don´t feel like repeating myself, so I post and send this [...]

Day 16: Dec 23rd: Rippio glory at Junin
I relieve that I am the most physically devastated that I have ever been. Perhaps Johnny Cash`s, ¨Boy named Sue¨ can put it in the proper context, ¨Sure I fought tougher men, but I honestly can`t remember when¨. I rode for seven hours on the blasted, God-forsaken road known as rippio. I am afraid of [...]

Radom reflections
Just some random funny reflects on Argentina.
It is always funny to see what technoligies bypassed certain countries for whatever reason….and no…obviously I don´t mean things like TEVO, which have failed to even percolate out to all of America….I mean little, smaller things.
Item 1: Zip lock bags….hardly advanced science, but when I did manage to find [...]

Argentine tourism baby
I have never, in all my years of traveling, ever met people less enthusiastic in taking money that I was desperately trying to give them. These are tourist agencies for f&%ks sake….what the hell do I have to do to get on a pre-packaged adventure….talk about a shocking departure from Asia….there they fight over ever [...]

Day 7 ride: from Malargue to Cascada and back
Day 7, Dec 14th: Day trip from Malargue to Cascada de something Spanish
Distance traveled: 85 (at one point very dishartening km)
Road Conditions: a mixed bag…the way from Malargue to the waterfall was uphill, which is always nice to get out of the way first, but it is REALLY uphill…and while there is some water in [...]

A desert X-mas
Its two weeks until X-mas, and I barely notice. It is such a nice break from the cloying, excessive consumption oriented bloated event that has been the highlight of America even before Thanksgiving. I am sure that by the time the day comes, the natives of South America will equally give thanks for their family [...]
